Now, these classes are just starting points, as you level up you place Karma points wherever you want, so you can become class hybrids, it all depends on how you play the game. From there you pick your class: Mage, Street Samurai, Decker, Shaman, Rigger, or Physical Adept (what these mean doesn’t really matter at the moment, if you play the game it’ll tell you what each one does so you can plan how to play accordingly). If you have never played Shadowrun, you get to choose from five races: Human, Elf, Dwarf, Orc, or Troll.

You start by creating your character, just like any other table top. If you like turn-based strategy RPGs, you’ll love it. Okay, now that backstory is out of the way let’s get to the game. Guess who has two thumbs and was right in his assumptions? I didn’t get it right away because I’m cheap and don’t pay full price for computer games, knowing that it would be ridiculously cheap come the summer sale. I don’t typically play computer games, though I have a respectable Steam library thanks to the Humble Bundle and Summer Steam Sales.

So when I heard that they were making a new Shadowrun game that harkened back to the gameplay of the Genesis and SNES games (don’t get me started on that terrible 360/PC game…) I was excited. My best friend introduced me to the table top game and we’ve played many awesome games together (including one that involved chat over Xbox Live that caused him, the GM, to have to switch between chats we call that campaign: “ADD Shadowrun). I have been a fan of the Shadowrun universe for quite a few years though. Okay, so the picture I used isn’t exactly of Shadowrun Returns.
